About Us
At the heart of The David Ellis Charity is a simple belief: no one who serves their community should ever feel they’re facing life’s challenges alone. We bring together veterans, serving personnel, and their families, offering practical support, connection, and a place to belong.
David Ellis
Our charity is proud to be named after David Ellis, a British Army veteran - 3rd Royal Tank Regiment - and former member of the fire service.

His quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others continue to inspire our mission.

The Armed Forces Covenant
The David Ellis Charity proudly recognises the vital contribution made by members of the UK Armed Forces community, including Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). As a charity run entirely by volunteers, we deeply value the skills, leadership, and commitment that Reservists and CFAVs bring to our organisation and to society
Our Commitment.
The David Ellis Charity will:
Support all volunteers who serve as Reservists or CFAVs, recognising the importance of their training, duties, and operational responsibilities.
Provide additional protected leave from volunteering duties to enable attendance at annual camps, training weekends, mobilisation, or other service-related commitments.
Hold volunteer roles open during periods of mobilisation or extended service.
Ensure no volunteer is disadvantaged due to their Reservist or CFAV status.
Promote understanding and respect for the Armed Forces community across the charity.
Champion the Armed Forces Covenant and actively demonstrate our commitment through our policies, culture, and community engagement.

How We Meet Our Armed Forces Covenant Pledge
The David Ellis Charity delivers on its Armed Forces Covenant pledge through practical, volunteer‑led action. As a Covenant signatory and Bronze holder, we ensure fair recruitment, clear support for veterans, Reservists, and military families, and provide a framework for those who serve. Volunteers deliver free recognised first aid and fitness qualifications to boost employability, support Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and run inclusive health, wellbeing, and social events.
We stay current with the Career Transition Partnership and Forces Families Jobs to expand employment opportunities. The images below show this commitment in action and reflect our positive track record and dedication to the Armed Forces community.
